Deepika Padukone to romance THIS star in new movie amid xXx 4 wait? | Films | Entertainment

The Bollywood megastar has a busy slate: she’s working on the sports biopic ’83 with husband Ranveer Singh, and she’s producing and acting in the real-life acid attack survivor story Chhapaak.

Now, amid an ongoing wait for news on the follow-up to xXx: Return of Xander Cage, she’s reportedly agreed to another project.

According to PinkVilla, she’ll be with Roshan in the top-line cast of a remake of Satte Pe Satta.

Rohit Shetty and Farah Khan are teaming up to make the movie, and Padukone has worked with both before: Shetty once and Khan twice.

The original 1982 film told the story of seven brothers on a large farmhouse, and was an adaptation of the American musical Seven Brides For Seven Brothers.

Padukone is seemingly wanted for the role of Indu R. Anand, played by Hema Malini in the original.

A source told the publication: “Both Farah and Rohit wanted Deepika Padukone in the movie because not only do they love her but she fits the role to the T.

“When DP debuted, everyone felt she had an uncanny resemblance to Hema ji in terms of her beauty as well.

“When Farah narrated the story to DP, she loved it and instantly gave her nod.”

This will be the first time the actress has worked with Roshan, who is one of the highest-paid actors in India, with multiple awards under his belt.

Meanwhile, there has been very little movement on xXx’s fourth movie for quite some time.

Xander Cage was the third film in the series, uniting Padukone with the likes of Vin Diesel and Ruby Rose.

Diesel posted in January that he was heading into a meeting about it, but otherwise it seems to have gone quiet.

“Heading into a xXx meeting this weekend,” he said at the time. “Who would you like to see added to the xXx League?”

Xander Cage made only a modest amount of money in the US but was a big hit overseas, thanks largely to international names like Donnie Yen and Padukone.

Neither xXx 4 nor Satte Pe Satta currently have release dates.
