Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari: Mercedes chief Toto Wolff provides truthful insight | F1 | Sport

Toto Wolff has revealed there is a 25 per cent chance Lewis Hamilton will not renew his Mercedes contract. The Brit has 12 months remaining on his current deal and is wanted by Ferrari.

Hamilton secured his sixth world title this year and can equal Michael Schumacher’s record next term.

However, his future beyond 2020 is up in the air and talks with Ferrari are ongoing behind the scenes.

Wolff admitted ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that he was relaxed about his star’s future.

But following the race the Silver Arrows chief admitted Hamilton could walk away.

“I am leaning myself out of the window here, and I would rate it at 75 per cent,” Wolff said.

“But I know Toto is looking at his options, in terms of his future, and only he will know what is the best thing for him and his family.

“So, I am waiting to see what he is doing with that.”

Meanwhile, Wolff’s future is also up in the air as he is being tipped to take up a position with the FIA.

“I love where I am so it is definitely not a quick decision to do something else but it is only smart and wise for me to sit and think of what I want if it is the last stage of my career,” Wolff added.

“I want to keep winning, and I want to be fighting with these guys. I cannot tell you what is going to happen moving forward.
